I know this is what you are waiting for! A friend of mine asked me how I bought my domain name. What steps did I take in order to get mine?
Anyway, the reason why we need to get a domain name is for us to have credibility and can be trusted by everyone. It is also about creating your brand online.
Since we are here to learn, I will ask you this question: Do you want to have a domain just like these popular sites you usually type on your web browser's address bar - www.google.com, www.facebook.com? I know you do because it's cool to have one.
I don't wanna make it long, so here are the steps to follow:
#1 Please read this post, Things to Consider Before Buying Your Own Domain Name.
#2 After you're done reading it, refer to all images below and follow instructions written there.
(We're using godaddy
on this article as the site to purchase our domain name. There are many sites out there offering the same service but this one is what I think the best for it has been online for 15 years and they are known for this kind of service)
#3 Type your preferred domain on the box (1) and choose what TLD (Top Level Domain Name) you want: .com, .net, .biz, .org and others (2). After that, click 'GO' button.
#4 You will be prompted with registration forms for this transaction. It is necessary to complete this in order to get your domain.
#5 Choose plan about how long do you intend to have that domain. Of course, the longer you have it, the higher the cost is. But I advise you to choose one year as a starting point since you are a beginner. You can always renew it before its due date ends, so don't worry about which plan to choose. Just pick what you desire.
#6 You may include add-ons if you think those features are needed. Of course, you will pay for it.
#7 You should have a PayPal account if you don't want to use your credit card as your medium of payment. If you don't have money on your PayPal account and want to secure your confidentiality, link your debit/credit card to it. Whenever you do transactions online using your PayPal, it will automatically debit the money from any of those cards (with your permission) if it can not find any money within.
#8 Confirm your order by clicking the "Place Your Order" button.
If you see a message congratulating you for successfully getting a domain, then congratulations. You now have that domain! Please take good care of it and use it to your advantage.
You will also receive emails from them like a receipt for the payment, a warm welcome from GoDaddy and many more.
